Jm Jungle justifies favouritism for Beverley Bullet strike

Jm Jungle got up in the dying strides to claim the William Hill Beverley Bullet Sprint Stakes.

A Group Two winner last season and sent off the 7-4 favourite after a spate of non runners, class told in a thrilling finish on the Westwood as the six-year-old finally got his nose in front after giving a good account of himself in high-ranking contests once again this season.

The John and Sean Quinn-trained gelding was only beaten two and three-quarter lengths in the Nunthorpe at York last week and quickly returned to action got a deserved first victory of the season in East Yorkshire.

Five of the eight runners were still in with a chance as they entered the final furlong with Tim Easterby’s Argentine Tango holding the advantage on the rail as they entered the last 100 yards and Jm Jungle pursuing down the centre of the course.

Jm Jungle responded to the urgings of regular pilot Jason Hart, reeling in Argentine Tango before asserting close home to register a half length success. Badri was a neck further adrift in third and course specialist Elegant Erin a short head off that rival in fourth.

John Quinn said: “He’s done that really well and he’s been running really well all year in Group Ones so he deserved it.

“He ran well in the Nunthorpe, he ran well at Royal Ascot, he ran well at Goodwood and he just got his head in front today.

“He’s in the Flying Five at the Curragh in two weeks so he might go there.”
